The first exercise it sounds like your boiling your throat.
The second one it sounds like a guy who got hit in the family jewels.
The third one sounds like a old guy moaning.
Besides that all he made my voice sound awesome

@famousmermaid
i’m getting the same feeling too lol.
make sure to drink tons of water. and don’t over-do the vocal fry thing. and STAY RELAXED when you do it.
you shouldn’t strain AT ALL to add vocal fry to a clean tone (like bill clinton).
if it is too high to do effortlessly, then DON’T DO IT! even if you are practicing to an exercise and it goes higher. just stop.

Could you please make a video with some tricks to improve the lower part of the voice? I have some problems with my lower notes and I’m sure you can help me… thanks in advance.

Am I the only one who is paranoid and feels the vocal fry actually ruins the voice? Don’t know.

I have a question. I wanna become a stronger singer and it seems every one has mac computers. Is there benifits from the macs for singing?

I could pay for the lessons, but the problem is I don’t live in the same country and I don’t want the Skype lessons, though. Maybe I’ll go to Nashville when I get older and train.

I’ve also been doing the SS exercises for a year and a half, starting to wonder where I should be by now. My head voice is okay, but I can’t do anything that sounds good in singing songs, i.e chest-voice like (my highest chest voice note is E above middle C when I’m belting!). I’m testing a cord coordination that sounds more speech-like, while i feel a squeezing sensation at the sides of my head (light, not painful). I can increase volume gradually holding a note, but not get loud straight away.

I had the same problem, try “hamming” (doing mm with the close lips) and “squeezing” at the seme time. At the begin it is a very squeezy sound but with the time feel more and more relax…. remember that sing a high G and high C it is almost the same thing. If you dont feel that, you are wrong… it is very difficult to describe feelings..that’s the problem at this point

if you’re referring to 2:28-2:33. He is using the vocal fry to reset the musculature of the vocal chords, to take off the tension, so that when he goes back and sings up on a scale, it will be in a easier, more relaxed place. I really wouldn’t think of the vocal fry as having anything to do with “increase in volume” that’s not the purpose of the vocal fry, in my opinion. This exercise is about coordinating the voice, keeping it speech level, and above all, keeping the strain and squeeze off

I’m doing that too, but in this video, Brett can do the fry and then “turn it up.” When I try to turn it up, it sounds “speech-like,” but there’s some kind of barrier to how loud I can go (not tension).

The point of the vocal fry, initially isn’t to get an increase in volume. The vocal fry keeps you at speech level before, during or after your exercises, singing, or anytime. I wouldn’t be doing it as much as you are, but rather incorporate it with a training program like SInging Success. I personally use it as soon as I feel like I’m pushing or squeezing, i’ll stop and do some vocal fry’s on breath or on a note.

Is it normal to go 2 months doing the fry exercises for 30 min sessions 3-4 days a week, and still not be able to get a considerable increase in volume?
