You can see why she’s the queen of coving bad landings on that first pass. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen her have a bad landing and cover it up (and probably not get a deduction).

It looks like it would be tough for long, lean gymnasts to do difficult tumbling passes.

even people who think she was a “diva” or had a bad attitude should admire and respect how much pride she had for her country, and how much she cared for the people of Russia. In sydney it seemed as if she completely took it upon herself and her team to be successful, to bring some kind of comfort to her country. not many people like that in this world.

yeah that’s one of the things that bug me nowadays. few gymnasts seem to enjoy their routine, especially the chinese. jiang yuyuan does, but others don’t.

Its so nice to see someone genuinely enjoy their floor excercise, not have a painted on smile or frown all the way through.

Yes, she just about got that double pike around: I think it was just the will of the crowd which got her around it:)

I do love Sveta; she’s such a drama queen XD But her tumbling passes were very “off” here, and she is very clever at disguising stumbles out of her tumbling, making it look like an intended leap or jump at the end of her pass, but its still very obviously errors. I would have liked her to win for posterity’s sake, but this routine wasnt one of her best:( She is thin, but I think its because the others are so small, she looks extra tall and thin:)

Was svetlana sick during these olympics? She looked sooo incredibly thin and very pale. Beautiful routine for her though.

She is the best AA ever, or at least one of them. She has a move named after her on every apparatus! Plus, her style is she amazing, Patterson’s floor routine is so robotic next to hers. (Sorry Carly)

Excellent FX, I must say. It was nearly on par with Patterson’s. Nearly. Khorkina’s routine is very beautiful but there was just something about Patterson’s routine; perhaps it was the sheer power and energy that Khorkina’s routine lacked, though hers was definitely more elegant than Patterson’s.

Svetlana Khorkina-the most talented gymnast the olympics has seen and also the best performer. You can see she puts her heart and soul into her performances.

Patterson most certainly got lucky. Even with her landing out of bounds on her vault and still got severely overscored.

She SO deserved to win this competition. She dominated the sport since 1997 and this was her’s to win. I wish she could have
Carly Patterson got VERY lucky this night.
