Shortly after taking 2 caps a day I began having a phantom olfactory sensation (smell) of a sweet, sea-weedy, unpleasant nature. I actually started gagging in bed last evening and put perfume on the end of my nose to distract myself! I couldn’t find any external source and thought that it might actually be generated internally. It occurred to me that it could be the Mega Red so I broke open a capsule and sure enough, the thick, shockingly red oil smelled exactly like my phantom odor. I can’t begin to imagine what my insides look like, let alone smell like–other body by-products also smell like krill oil. Regular Omega-3 fish oils have not had this effect (those that are marketed as having no fishy aftertaste). I found this nasty sensation very disturbing.

I was delighted when I received the Costco flyer showing that they now offered the krill MegaRed. I’d been buying for some time, on an automatic shipment basis, Nordic Krill from Amazon. The price seemed excellent at $20.77 per month for 60 capsules (I take two a day). The MegaReds were listed as 90 capsules for about the same amount of money. However, when I looked at the ingredients and saw sorbitol listed, that was the end of MegaRed.
Even if the amount of sorbitol in each capsule is minute, I still reject ingesting sorbitol in any form. So, I guess it’s back to Nordic Krill capsules from Amazon. Or perhaps the wild salmon I eat every day is actually sufficient and I don’t really need to take a supplement.

Before I took this, I took Iceland Health Omega Fish Oil, It was more expensize, but it brought my cholestoral down to lower than ever, 175, it had always run 240 or so. I miss the other benefits of Iceland Health, it used to help calm me down, have bipolar disorder, Also helped with arthritus, hopefilly, this little red pill is doing something, don’t feel it, but am sick to stomach sometimes in AM, was not attributing it to this, I think I will Try going back to Iceland Health, CVS has it for 60 Gel capsules for 19 bucks, I used to getit here for 30 bucks for a 30 capsule bottle
